Jules is ray of sunlight through the stormclouds guiding her listeners through growling depths of untamed passion to lingering melodies and lyric landscapes. This indie musician's influences range from Ani Difranco & Tori Amos to Blind Melon & Alice in Chains. She’ll sing to your soul & challenge your heart to feel!
Not only is Jules a beautiful vocalist having won prestige in both the folk & jazz community, she is also a fully trained classical composer having worked with a multitude of orchestras and smaller ensembles within the US, UK and Europe. Her haunting melodies and whimsical humour has entranced audiences across the miles. Wanting to share her enthusiasm for music, in 2001 she opened the Exeter/Devon Composer Group in collaboration with BACS (The British Academy of Composers and Songwriters) and SPNM (Society for the Promotion of New Music) and began working with local young musicians - a project which allowed her the esteemed honour of composing a new work for the Queen of England and the Duke of Edinburgh to mark the 2002 Jubilee Celebrations in Exeter Cathedral.
In 2003 Jules was invited to the prestigious Bowling Green State University New Music & Art Festival in Ohio, USA where her work "Night Owl" was performed along with works by Bright Sheng, Bernard Rands and many others. The same ensemble which performed this composition then took the piece on tour to Eastern Europe in the summer of 2004.
In 2004 & 2005 Jules worked as the assistant composer in Cornwall and the lead composer in Wigan for the SPNM Sound Inventors program which teaches young composers aged 11-18 how to write for specific ensembles.
In 2006 Jules was invited to represent the southwest UK as the regional composer in the 2006 National Project "The Rosetta Requiem" which included works by Jarvis Cocker, Billy Bragg, Michael Nyman and Orlando Gough.
Jules success continued to snowball as she began working as performance coach & promoter for several up-and-coming rock bands.
Summer 2007 marked the first JYM US/UK tour exchange programme which twined the EMMALINE MUCHMORE from Minneapolis, USA with S-O-B ("Some Other Bloke") from the UK. Other bands that were included in the tour were: The Pleasure Seekers, The Enigma Design, Eventine, NUMB, Dawn Chorus Ignites, Ladydoll and Cars in Walls.
In November 2007 Jules joined the Kellie Cox band as a support vocalist and guitarist with the future plans already in motion to join in on piano. For more information please visit KELLIE COX's website at: www.kelliecox.co.uk
On the 8th of August 2008 Jules released her first EP "Feels like Sunlight" with the very talented Steve Burnett. They are currently working on several new projects together including a new CD.
In 2009 Jules & Stuart Wills formed the eclectic duo "The Sidewalk Anthem" (www.TheSidewalkAnthem.com). They are currently working on their first CD together.
Jules continues to build a strong arts community & regularly performs & records with many artists in the southwest UK. She also hosts a monthly social group for artist called the “VIBE” which fosters creativity and cross-arts collaborations. As a result of this group, Jules can regularly be seen performing at art exhibitions in and around Exeter.
